My Walk in the Marais
The other day we decided to go on a walk from a book I got on Christmas where there are cards with maps on them, and at the end of a map it shows you what you do along your walk, and there are questions that you have to answer and stuff like that. We did one that led to the Bastille at the end , and we chose this one because the night before that we went to see the Nutcracker at the Opera Bastille, and before we went to see the Nutcracker we saw an amusement park across the street that was open. But when we came out from the opera it wasn't open, and I really wanted to go on the rides. So we decided we would come back tomorrow. And the next day we felt like doing one of the walks so we found this one that led straight to the Bastille so then we could do the walk, and then at the end when it finished at the Bastille we could go onto the rides.
The first stop that it told us to do in the walk was to look at a garden with a very nice house in front. The name of it was l'hotel de Sens. This is the courtyard.
And this is the house.
Actually, the person who owned this house (on the right is the back of the house) was Queen Margot, and why there's this square with nothing in the middle is because there used to be a fig tree there, but the queen had it cut down because her carriage couldn't fit through! One of the streets is still called fig street though.
This is the next stop. It's a hostel, but the funny thing is that when we were looking at it a window opened right above the door, and a woman leaned out. She was naked holding towels and her hair was all wet. It looked like she just took a shower, and she looked down and saw us and laughed. Then she went back in, and in a second she opened the window again and looked down again and laughed again.
Next stop Phillipe Auguste tower. This tower was built by Phillippe Auguste, the same person who built the Louvre. It was to protect the city while he went away on the Crusades.
Here is a thief trying to climb the tower, but he'll never get there! Oh no, I'm mistaken. That's my father.
This is a fountain right across the street from the tower. On the top in Roman numerals it said what year it was from, and when you translated it it was 1848.
This is Place des Vosges. And this is me with Louis XIII.
This is the last stop, Bastille. The Bastille was a prison where criminals were kept. Some were imprisoned for their religious beliefs. During the French Revolution the revolutionaries destroyed it. And this is a symbol to remember the Revolution.

A weekend trip
This weekend me and my mom and dad went on a trip for the weekend. We went to the Loire Valley in France. On the way there we stopped at a cathedral called Chartres. It was fun. There were lots of stained glass windows, and there was a room full of boxes with parts of saints in them. The parts of saints were in the boxes because you need a part of a saint to build a cathedral.
We stayed in a castle called Chateau Montriou. We walked around there a little and then went out for dinner. The chateau that we stayed at was very cool because it had lots of gardens on the outside. The gardens were pretty. It was funny because the flowers were still blooming, and they still had some vegetables even though it was November. In one of the gardens I picked some tomatoes and ate them. They were very good. I got a little baby tomato that was as tiny as the tip of my pinky. The place where we were staying in the chateau was very cool because it was the oldest part of it. It was from the 15th century.
The next day we went to a castle called Angers that was very cool. It had 17 towers. I got a little booklet with games in it to do on the way.

Parc Asterix

Yesterday I went to park Asterix. It was very fun. I went on a ride that was cauldrons that you went in, and you spun the cauldrons while the floor spun, and the cauldrons moved around the floor. I also went to the Gaulish village. That was fun. In the Gaulish village I got to go in Asterix's and Obelisk's houses. In Obelisk's house on the ground there were Obelisk's shoes that you got to put your feet in. and he also had a bed. In Asterix's house he only had a bed. In the Gaulish village there were also lots of restaurants and stores. The Gaulish village was on an island in the middle of the amusement park. There was also a ride that was old fashioned cars that you got to drive on a road in the forest, and while you drove through the forest there were models of people and things doing stuff in the forest. I also went on two roller coasters. One of them was bigger than the other. On the small one I could keep my hands up, but on the big one I couldn't. I also went on two carousels. On the first one there was a big Obelisk that you could go in that spun, but we didn't get to go in it. On the second one there was a different spinning thing, but it wasn't Obelisk and it was much smaller, that we got to go in. That carousel was a medieval carousel. In one part of the park there were these ginormous mushrooms with climbing things on them, and so you can climb up the mushroom. I went on one of the mushrooms, and I got up to the top. Except I didn't get to go on the top, only the stem, because the top didn't have any climbing things, and it didn't let you go onto the very top of the mushroom - just on the stem.
